Below is the transcript of episode 24 of the One Last Thought podcast, titled "Self-Development is a Choice" and I wanted to share it as a blog post, as there is so much value to be gained by these powerful thoughts shared by Lori Lee and Brendan Cutuli. Enjoy.
I had to learn to focus on myself and be the best person I could be through personal development through the self-development process that a lot of people are speaking about today.
We always have the choice of the attitudes that we're going to take toward our life and attitude determines everything.
Some of the ways that I've been able to do that is through focusing on my nutrition, focusing on exercising, meditation, being mindful about the approach of how I interact with others, expressing gratitude as much as I can.
We always have control of whether we learn from some of the tough stuff or whether we let it make us small and afraid.
First, primarily focus on your relationship with yourself. Focus on yourself, learn to be the best you that you can be and as a result, you will impact a large majority of the people that you interact with.
You have the power to create the life that you want. It doesn't mean you control everything that's coming into it. But it does mean that you get to control whether you're thinking positive, that does mean that you get to control whether you learn from your experiences. It does mean that you get to find joy in the journey. And all of those are choices.
I'm trying to become aware of my emotions, thoughts, experiences, and learning from my past and trying to use those lessons and tips to benefit my future.
Now, that doesn't mean that things don't come into our life that we're not in control of. But we always have control over if we find meaning and purpose or if we find victimhood.
I think self-development is key. It's the solution to any problem that you may have because it'll bring about those answers to your problems in a more effective approach.
Learn more What your thoughts, what your interactions are like throughout different environments, and try to better yourself every day.
My one last thought is going to be one of power and responsibility, which is that we are responsible for creating our own life story for writing the script that we want to live, for creating on purpose, the kind of life that we would be happy with and the story that we want to tell.
I hope you all discover a lot throughout your own personal journey and become a wonderful figure throughout your own life, but also those around you.
What I learned throughout the 22 years that I've been alive is that these are just some of the principles that best implemented within my own life, but I encourage you all to find out what's best for you.
Just choices. Live well create the life story that you want and remember that story power serves you best when you know how to use it.
